EXHIBITION
Exhibition
Most of the works at my first solo exhibition in 1993 were paintings using gold or silver leaf and mineral pigments. As I had already started my wanderings in India, the Turquoise series was born while I was experimenting with various art materials that were available in India. The reason why I focus on the large size turquoise series is because the condition of size is essential to the vital relationship that occurs between the viewer and the painting, by doing “facing a work of art = being covered by the work”. On the other hand, I started to draw Sumi ink works around 2005, and since the exhibition that I published my Sumi ink works first time in 2009, I have had the opportunity to show them as well as turquoise. Now, depending on where I’m presenting my work, I’m also showing works with color, foil and mineral pigments. When I draw large works long time, I also want to do delicate work like Indian miniature.
